A Girl Called Winter

by Postindustrial Poets

/

about

All those seasons, all those girls. May in the spring, a mermaid in summer, Eve in the autumn, and a girl called winter, always on my mind...

lyrics

I met May when the hedges were in bloom
She made a bed of flowers
She took me to her room
And we sowed seeds, beneath the silver moon
'til the days got too long for her and she left me
Far too soon

But all that time a girl called Winter was on my mind

I had easy loving
In a summer land
Met a girl with golden hair
Skin as warm as sand
She smelt of salt and sea and she
took me to a beach
Swam like a mermaid and now
She's out of reach

But all that time a girl called Winter was on my mind

I met Eve, selling fruit from a stall
She asked me what I wanted and
I said I'd take it all
We walked through russet leaves to a
Garden behind a wall
She fed me apples until I
Could take no more

I saw her shining
In the starlight
Hair as pale as the Arctic dawn
Eyes the blue of ice
And I've heard her footsteps in the darkest hours of night
I loved a girl called Winter and she
Never looked at me twice

But all that time a girl called winter was on my mind
Yes all that time a girl called winter was on my mind
